ParticipantA new SPGB pamphlet on Labour would be nice.

ParticipantThe latest from u75
Quote:Farage saying that firearms should be legalised provides us with an opening. If they're willing to cede to the populist demand for guns, then a little pressure would surely move them to allow nuclear devices on every council estate, controlled by a popularly elected neighbourhood junta. Comrades, the UKIP entrist faction is born! Join us in this fight!May 30, 2014 at 2:32 pm in reply to: “Am I the only one who doesn’t dislike Tony Blair” ‘unquote’ #101643jondwhite
ParticipantWhat is the argument?

ParticipantI think the large xenophobic vote saw through the no2eu xenophobia and got behind the more authentically committed xenophobic ukip.

ParticipantMike Foster wrote:I think that we should be grateful to the CCS for their efforts, which have surely contributed to our relatively favourable result in Oxford. On the issue of clause 7, the CCS is not a party, it's a discussion group, and therefore even less deserving of hostility.Neither is the CPGB-PCC as they state (http://www.cpgb.org.uk/home/about-the-cpgb/faq) 'It has to be said again that we do not consider ourselves a party. We are not such an organisation.'although admitting 'The word party comes from the Latin pars, meaning ‘part of’.'The CPGB-PCC urged support for the SPGB too.

ParticipantIt wouldn't restrict joining the movement, only joining the party. The party is not the movement. Workers who want to support the party are told not to if they do not understand, yet workers continue to support the party.A good PR approach is a materialist idea, based on material reality of the effect of good PR. Idealists would be indifferent or not be interested in a good PR approach. They would call it 'the passing show'.

ParticipantI don't think the exclusion of the religious (or deists) excludes enough idealists. If anything, the question should be broadened.

ParticipantAnother aspect worth considering is separation of the party website from the publication website to enable better specialisation of both.

ParticipantThe major parties use canvassing software, such as EARS (http://www.earsonline.co.uk/ears01.php) which is used by the Lib Dems. Something for the SPGB Election Committee?

ParticipantFormer mining communities may have voted for the SLP if they were familiar with Scargill's trade union activity, not so much his politics though.

I think they should be included in any follow-up campaigns strategy in Oxford – joint public meeting? It could be 'acknowledged' but I think 'appreciation' would set a dangerous precedent in respect of Clause 7 'the party seeking working class emancipation must be hostile to every other party.' Other than that, by all means, follow up campaigns, send speakers to their meetings etc.

ParticipantThere's other courses at that website, including one session on Marx's German Ideology.

ParticipantThis kind of personal report would be nice to see on the rather dry election blog.
