The Wigtown Book Festival is a ten-day literary festival held each autumn in Wigtown, Dumfries and Galloway, South-West Scotland.
On Friday, 27 September, five comrades from ‘south of the border’ made their way to Wigtown to reconnoitre potential sites for the stall outside the Festival as political parties were excluded from having stalls inside.
Somewhere suitable to pitch our stall was found but as there were very few people about it was decided to return the following day (Saturday), set up and see how long it would be before we asked to ‘move along’.  We weren’t and almost three hours was spent displaying our literature and occasionally chatting to passers by.  No other political parties were present.

Literature sales were not great (1 x Magic Money Myth, 1 x SOYMB, 1 x September Standard and 1 x canvas bag.) but our presence certainly did not go unnoticed.  We had planned to return the following day but the weather took a turn for the worse and comrades had to return home on Monday.
Two bookshops in Wigtown agreed to take various items of Party literature on a sales or return basis.
