Panama has also been taken over without firing a shot.
The US has occupied three old inactive military bases through an agreement with the Panamanian government. The US Secretary of Defense said that he feels communism all over the Panama Canal.
This ignorant person does not even know what communism is, it is an old Cold War rhetoric. Probably, he feels that the US influence in the region is declining, and that China is spreading its commercial operations through its megaport in Peru.
They are just inter-capitalist disputes for commercial routes and spheres of influence
