For those interested enough in extraterrestial matters and up early enough (4.30ish BST) tomorrow morning (June 6th) there will be a chance to see a celestial pattern which will not be repeated in the lifetime of most people alive today. In a rare configuration the planet Venus will cross the Sun — an event which has only happened six times in recorded history, most recently in 2004. It only happens in pairs, eight years apart (thus the 2004 transit), and less than once a century. Next time will be in 2117.
Sobering thought.
