Could I just give belated thanks to Mike for his article in the April Socialist Standard. Really interesting stuff. For those who are interested in some of the dramas mentioned in Mike's article, I've cut and pasted his article to the Socialist Standard Past and Present Blog and included the YouTube links for the majority of the TV shows mentioned in the piece. Just click on the titles:Link: Whatever Happened to Political Drama?

Thanks very much for taking the time to find links to the programmes and people mentioned in the article. It's a shame that you don't get that kind of thought-provoking drama today. My personal favourites are Survivors, Noah's Castle and Cathy Come Home, but they're not the most cheerful of shows!

I noticed that a couple of the links have since been deleted . . . but they will turn up again.

Speaking of links, here's one to a recent BBC interview with Tony Garnett, who produced some of the dramas mentioned: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b07jhsd1
