The Open University has set up some short online surveys about attitudes to the notion of class. This is tied in with a programme on BBC1 called Paul O'Grady's Working Britain (to be reviewed in the next Standard!). Here's a link to the surveys, which I'd say are worth a few minutes to fill in: http://www.open.edu/openlearn/whats-on/ou-on-the-bbc-paul-ogradys-working-britain

When i did it the results were 80%  agree work still defines your class position in the twenty first century. 48% disagree that the nature of work has changed and the traditional distinctions about ownership of the means of production don’t mean anything any more. 82%  agree class is about inequalities and the working class still experiences lack of power and control over their lives.

According to Urban75 – Paul O'Grady's conclusions in the programme have been toned down and edited out by the BBC.
