ParticipantOwen Jones writes in the Guardian and calls for end to Cuban dictatorship
Quote:There were many dictatorships that called themselves “socialist” in the 20th century: almost all fell, and their lasting contribution has been to sully the cause of socialism. Democracy is a universal right, not something that only some peoples or some cultures deserve. Having an exceptional healthcare and education system, or defying a concerted attack by a global superpower, does not mean being let off the hook when it comes to allowing your people to vote for whoever they want.According to Wikipedia other political parties were legalised in Cuba in 1991/2 but are still not allowed to campaign.
So much for Cuban democracy.

InactiveThe US capitalists class just want to implement another China or Vietnam in the Caribbean, and they are using the same old rhetoric of democracy, human rights, and progress. Fidel Castro and Raul are two old idols that can be replaced by any of their puppets when they die, they are just old KhruschevitesThe Cuban ruling class will serve in a silver platter all the national resources and cheap labor forces to the US capitalists, in the same way that they have been doing it for a long period of time with the European capitalists. Previously they used John Paul II, and now they used Francisco as intermediary. Mao received Richard Nixon on a red carpet, and probably, Raul Castro will receive Obama on a red carpet too, or vice versaThe reformist left wingers are claiming that this is a victory for socialism, in reality it is a victory for a sector of the US ruling class who have desired for a long period of time to invest capital in Cuba, they are already sharpening their teeth. The left wingers never learn, they are always repeating the same mistakes, and repeating the same old false argumentation It does not make any difference if they have more political parties. Rafael Trujillo had two, or three political parties and one party was always the winner, and before he was going to be killed by the CIA ,he was trying to make alliance with the Russian like Fidel Castro did in 1960
