I'm from
/r/MHOC, a community dedicated to simulating the UK House of Commons. We have elections to fill the 30 seats in the commons, and then a government is formed by the majority. The 6 months till the next election are then spent writing and voting on legislation from both the government and opposition. You can see our constitution
here.
I'm from the Labour Party, who are currently the senior members of the government. Unlike the real life one, most of our members would describe themselves as democratic socialists, with a significant minority of social democrats. We'd love for anyone interested to come join in, and are quite desperate for people willing to become a Member of Parliament and vote on legislation. Knowledge of the British political system is definitely not required; many existing MPs are not British and have performed admirably. You can apply to join a party here.
There are 3 other parties. Our coalition partners the Liberal Democrats, who range from neo-liberals to moderate social democrats, the Conservatives who focus on neo-liberal economics and populist conservatism for social policies. There's also UKIP, which has just been created, which we expect to be a bunch of far-right racists.
Thanks for your time!
