My retirement age was increased from 60 to 66. I hung on for those 6 additional years, during which time I denied a young person a job. I hate Labour with a hatred that has made me stopping watching the news. Labour Government can fuck off. It has absolutely no solution to youth unemployment until it reduces the retirement age.
It’s a book-balancing exercise. Evidently paying unemployment benefit, or whatever it’s called these days, to the young is cheaper than paying state pensions. Either way, one section of the working class loses.
The solution to youth unemployment is not to reduce the retirement age but to get rid of the system that causes it – capitalism.
