As we always suspect the public statements of a sharing, caring pharmaceutical industry offering generous discounts at cost price was always done on the understanding that in the future with the need for boosters there was always going to be a steady growing better business opportunity.

The planet could have a year or less before first-generation Covid-19 vaccines are ineffective and modified formulations are needed, according to a survey of epidemiologists, virologists and infectious disease specialists.

Cuba is not a socialist state as the article said, it is just another capitalist state based on a capitalist economy. Socialism would be a society without a state and it will not be an economical system, it would be a social production

There is another absurd conception named corporate communism which is being spread by the followers of QAnon. The blind guiding the blinds

Rates of stillbirth and maternal deaths rose by around a third during the COVID-19 pandemic, with pregnancy outcomes getting worse overall for both babies and mothers worldwide

    https://news.trust.org/item/20210331212547-t759e/

Lockdowns, disruption to maternity services, and fear of attending healthcare facilities all added to pregnancy risks, leading to generally worse results for women and infants.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound impact on healthcare systems,” said professor Asma Khalil, who co-led the research at St George’s University of London. “The disruption caused … has led to the avoidable deaths of both mothers and babies, especially in low- and middle-income countries.”

MS, we may have our differences with the Castroite regime in Cuba, but it does possess a health system that can be admired.

In face of a embargo and sanctions it has succeeded in developing a medical service which they export around the world.

Here is a video on its vaccine programme

I am talking about the concept expressed in the article. I do know about the Cuban Medical System and its medical schools. They also make their own textbooks. The Latin American School of Medicine is similar to the Patrice Lumumba University of Moscow

Also, those medical doctors are used as a tool of propaganda by trying to equate socialism with medical services run by the state which is social democrat reform. In Venezuela, they were used to be exchanged for petroleum

Lurking behind the France 24 video on Cuba’s Covid 29 vaccine program, i.e. the next video in the playlist, was France 24‘s video to mark the 150th anniversary of the Paris Commune.

As they say, every cloud has a silver lining

In the week ending 19 March, 10,311 deaths were registered in England and Wales – the lowest since 2014 for that week…the remaining non-Covid deaths are running below every year in the past decade.

The President of Argentina was tested positive after he had a Russian vaccine. Probably, he already had the virus before he had the vaccine, and he was asymptomatic

After trumpeting it as a “world beating” British achievement and accusing European governments of “vaccine nationalism” for raising questions about the AstraZenenica vaccine, now they have been forced to tell us and reveal the numbers of deaths associated with it. I bet that Oxford University regret teaming up with a dodgy pharma company to rush out a cheapo vaccine.

Competition has once again shown that it leads to cutting corners and fiddling results.

Sarah Gilbert and Adrian Hill the scientists who lead the team that created the Oxford/AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine, is set for a payday of more than £20m each as the biotech firm co-founded prepares to float on the stock market in the US.

Uğur Şahin and his wife, Özlem Türecim, the co-founders and chief executive and chief medical officer of Pfizer’s vaccine partner BioNTech, have seen their net wealth soar to about $4bn (£2.9bn)

Stéphane Bancel, the chief executive of Moderna, has seen his fortune soar to an estimated $4.3bn as the US company’s share price has soared. Two scientists who helped develop the technology for Moderna’s mRNA vaccine have also become billionaires. Prof Timothy Springer of Harvard Medical School and Dr Robert Langer of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology hold stakes worth $2.2bn and $2bn respectively.

    Revealing item in today’s Times about AstraZeneca’s supposed philanthropy in selling its vaccine at cost price;

The vaccine is being sold on a non-profit basis during the pandemic but the business is entitled to royalty and milestone payments, which could become lucrative if the virus remains active in the population over the long term.

Which no doubt is what they are banking on.

Meanwhile the compensation culture lawyers are circling, as another page reports “Bereaved may sue over jab”:

At least four of the families of people who have died after having the Covid-19 vaccine are taking advice in potential legal claims.

    Lovely system capitalism, isn’t it?
