Iran captain Ehsan Hajsafi spoke out supporting the protestors in his country, he could get arrested, imprisoned and even tortured for that. After all his headline grabbing and vows to wear an armband, all it took was the threat of a booking and Kane folded like a wet newspaper.
Don’t you dare talk about morality ever again, you’ve shown your vows to be utterly worthless when it matters.
Iran team didn’t sing their national anthem in solidarity with the protests

Iran TV cut its coverage of the anthem
I couldn’t believe it when I saw the Iranian team not singing. Teams always at least make some semblance of singing. Good for them. I only hope it doesn’t land them into serious trouble.
No doubt the English millionaire’s gave a lusty rendition of God Save The King.
LOL Allegedly one sang God Save The Queen
Saudi Arabia celebrates victory over Argentine but little mention by the sports pundits of its executions.
Saudi Arabia on the same day as the football executed two Saudi citizens for drug offences, taking the total number of executions in the past fortnight to 17 (10 being foreigners).
Saudi Arabia has executed 130 people this year.
The next may be Hussein Abo al-Kheir, a Jordanian, was arrested in 2014 for smuggling narcotics when crossing the Jordan border into Saudi, and says he only confessed when he was tortured, including being suspended from his feet and beaten on his stomach and legs

Germany’s players placed hands over their mouths and wore rainbow stripes on their warm-up tops and boots.
German interior minister, Nancy Faeser, who also wore a OneLove armband, which promotes tolerance, diversity and LGBTQ+ rights, as she sat next to Fifa’s president, Gianni Infantino.
But who raised the issue of Morocco and Western Sahara independence at their game?

he international players’ union questioned why Pierre-Alain Mounguengui, the president of the Gabonese Football Federation was allowed to attend the opening match of the 2022 World Cup despite being charged in connection with allegations of widespread sexual abuse.
“Pierre-Alain Mounguengui is currently under investigation for allegedly covering up the widespread abuse by not reporting to the competent authorities,” read a statement from Fifpro. “Caf executives visiting Mounguengui in custody, on the eve of his release, and photographs of Caf’s president hugging Mounguengui at the Fifa World Cup do nothing to persuade victims and whistleblowers to risk their lives and those of their families to give evidence. How victims perceive these moments matter and could significantly impact the integrity and efficacy of Fifa’s investigation.”
We’ve seen them at matches before, some English fans dressed up as crusaders.
Now they have been told they are banned from the games
“We would advise fans who are attending Fifa World Cup matches that certain attire, such as fancy-dress costumes representing knights or crusaders, may not be welcomed in Qatar and other Islamic countries.

The football brain drain from Africa.
“You export it, you make some money, and it comes back with added value for you to consume. It’s like exporting oil and then buying rubber afterwards.”

Imbecilic nationalism on the rampage again – this time, not in Ukraine, but on the streets of Tenerife where tribalistic English and Welsh fans brawled over the prospect of a bunch of millionaires kicking around an inflated ball in a faraway place called Qatar. Jeezus. Talk about people needing to get a life!
Another example of “imbecilic nationalism on the rampage”:
I don’t why even some socialists subscribe to the idea that professional soccer is “the beautiful game”. It is more like the disgusting game, a combination of commercialism and nationalism that sets Worker against Worker.
