It began as a run-of-the-mill trade war and a re-newed cold war but things seem to be heating up that i started this new topic. It is possibly premature and another example of my doom and gloom but it does appear that the situation could easily take a turn for the worse.

We have the situation of both navies confronting one another in the China South Sea and of course Trump’s accusations on the coronavirus that China deliberately misled about it. And then there is Hong Kong. The Chinese consulate in Houston, Texas has been ordered to close, some suspected coronavirus hackers have fled into the San Francisco consulate and now the USA have arrested some Chinese on the charge of visa fraud and another has fled into the San Francisco consulate – not declaring their past membership of the military, implying they were engaged in industrial espionage.

Much less provocation has led to a military conflict and the economic implications of such a one upon an already unstable world economy due to the pandemic are immense.

If law and order can’t win an election, a patriotic war usually can. How close can Trump take America to the edge of the abyss?

A critique of China’s foreign policy

    https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/jul/23/chinas-actions-are-a-reflection-of-confidence-and-xi-jinpings-iron-grip

“This time they think, ‘Maybe we are strong enough. We are equals now and therefore we can cause as much pain to you as us. We can fight’,” said Dali Yang, a professor of political science focusing on China at the University of Chicago. “For the people who are making the decisions, they see it as the price to pay and they are willing to pay it,” said Yang.

    https://uk.reuters.com/article/uk-usa-china-pompeo/pompeo-urges-more-assertive-approach-to-frankenstein-china-idUKKCN24O30Q

“The freedom-loving nations of the world must induce China to change … in more creative and assertive ways, because Beijing’s actions threaten our people and our prosperity.”

Pompeo said “maybe it’s time for a new grouping of like-minded nations, a new alliance of democracies,” while adding: “If the free world doesn’t change, Communist China will surely change us.”

Pompeo said “securing our freedoms from the Chinese Communist Party is the mission of our time,” and America was perfectly positioned to lead it.

They have been bothering mankind for more than 250 years, and always looking for world conflicts. Nothing new

A war with China is a very dangerous situation because the USA and China both have atomic bombs. Many peoples in the USA think that this is a joke, this is very serious. This leadership will do anything to stay in power or to be reelected

In 1972 when Richard Nixon travelled to China to establish commercial, industrial and diplomatic relationship with them, China was the best kid in the block, but now that China is challenging the world hegemony of the USA, they are the bad boys. It is shown that one of the enemies of the capitalists is capital itself

Australia, America’s Pacific deputy sheriff, has added its support, which come as no great surprise. And it is no surprise that Australia’s loyal opposition is backing the government’s position.

    https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2020/jul/25/australia-declares-there-is-no-legal-basis-to-beijings-claims-in-south-china-sea

Australia has declared “there is no legal basis” to China’s territorial and maritime claims in the South China Sea. Australia’s foreign affairs minister, Marise Payne, and the defence minister, Linda Reynolds, prepare to travel to Washington next week to meet with the US secretary of state, Mike Pompeo, and the secretary of defence, Mark Esper.

It is rank hypocrisy by a country that decided in alliance with Indonesia to carve up East Timor.

A Singaporean man has pleaded guilty in the US to working as an agent of China, the latest incident in a growing stand-off between Washington and Beijing. Jun Wei Yeo was charged with using his political consultancy in America as a front to collect information for Chinese intelligence, US officials say

The degree of recklessness in the American ruling class recalls the phrase: “Those whom the gods would destroy they first make mad.” Confronted with the accelerating economic, social and political crisis unleashed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Trump administration is lashing out at China in a desperate attempt to divert immense social tensions outward against an external enemy and “take down” a potential rival

Workers and youth in the United States and around the world cannot allow the world’s population to be plunged into a catastrophic war. It is necessary to build a unified international anti-war movement of the working class on the basis of a socialist perspective to put an end to global capitalism and its bankrupt system of rival nation states, which is the root cause of war

We should not forget Herman Goering’s words, Roberto.

“Why of course the people don’t want war. Why should some poor slob on a farm want to risk his life in a war when the best he can get out of it is to come back to his farm in one piece? Naturally the common people don’t want war: neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But after all it is the leaders of a country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy or fascist dictatorship, or a parliament or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the peace makers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.”

But also we should not forget 2003 that saw millions in the streets who did not fall for the lies and propaganda. It isn’t as easy these days in the words of Lincoln

“You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time.”

I don’t think Trump has the credibility to garner support other than his existing base. I don’t think Xi is prepared for an all-out war.  But accidents can happen and mistakes are made. Bluffs are sometimes called. Rational compromises such as made by JFK and Khrushchev in the 1962 Cuba Crisis might not appeal to a new generation of leaders who think a limited conventional war might be conceivable. Capitalism is always a gamble, whether it is in the stock exchange or across the diplomacy negotiation table.

I do agree with you working class do not want war but i do really worry about one by mistake or accidents one.

I do not take it any side.

We need real Socialism but for that reasons we need more people to undertand what is Capitalism and see the possibility for ea Post capitalism world…

There are 52 man-made islands around the world including the Caribbean region and nobody has said anything about it. The real problem is not the islands made by China, it is the strategic position of china in that region, and the South China Sea ( named given  by the Europeans powers as they have done around the world ) is a route for business and commercial trade

The USA is also claiming ownership of the Caribbean sea, and they have sent warships to that region and challenging Venezuela and other Caribbean nations. That is the so-called anti-globalist, anti expansionist, or anti-imperialist president elected by 62 millions of peoples
