News
November Standard Out

The November 2008 Socialist Standard is out. The Socialist Standard is a journal produced every month by the Socialist Party containing articles on recent events and in-depth analysis of many issues surrounding capitalism and socialism. The Standard has been running for over a hundred years and has provided a unique commentary of events throughout it's lifetime. You can buy a copy of the Socialist Standard for £1.50 from your local branch or through a subcription (including a 3 month free trial), details of which as well as free online copies can be found here.
Some additions to site
We have added some articles and pamphlets to the site, starting with ,'The Market System Must Go!' appropriately subtitled 'Why Reformism doesn't work'.
Some more articles on The Worker's Weekend Getting the Blues in Suburbia Competition
Recent meeting
The Socialist Party Day School, organised by Edinburgh and Glasgow Branches, was held on the 10th of May at Community Central Halls, 304 Maryhill Road, Glasgow. The purpose of the day school, which we hold every year, is to discuss and educate about key matters of capitalism and socialism. Refreshments were provided and a stall was set up with literature. This year the topics that were discussed were "Why Capitalism Can't Go Green", "The Tyranny of Copyright" and "Another Century of War?".
May Day March
For this years May day we set up a stall with some literature. There was a reasonable crowd and we managed to hand out some Standards, with leaflets for the Day school.
