“New York, Dec. 9. The Army is working on new clothing items that will give its men better protection against extreme cold, fire, shrinkage, and enemy bullets.
Among them are a plastic body armour that withstands the impact of a .45 calibre revolver slug, and an Arctic suit which gives protection at 55 degrees below zero Fahrenheit, That is 15 degrees better than the previous suit.” —New York Herald Tribune. (European Edition). 10/12/1948.
