Spot on.Careless of me. I stand corrected. :-)Matt

KeymasterIt got me bang to rights as from Glasgow. Yet a lot of people don't think I sound Glaswegian.
PJShannon
KeymasterIt is not only hackneyed and cliched but trivialisation of a serious subject. You do yourself and us a disservice by this feeble puerile attempt at humour.

KeymasterQuote:So perhaps the goal of the forum should be to concentrate on information-sharing and political education which may require a re-design of the forum webpages. The website already serves that purpose. There are about 800 users signed up to the website. They do not necessarily login when looking at pages. When they do login there may be weeks of a break from their last login..At the moment I write this there are two users, myself and Alan, but eleven 'guests' some of whom are not logged in users. They are not necesarily in this forum, but may just be perusing content. The best thing members can do is to visit others websites, blogs, and fora and providee links occasioanlly to relevant articles or content on our site or the blogs which link to us.I'd like to see many more guests. The next best thing is to be friendlier ot each other and not take criticism as a personal attack.

KeymasterBrian wrote:How relevant is the Marxist theory in the twenty first century?Yes that is the sort of thing I mean also. But it can spiral into lengthier contributions and we shouldn't necessarily object to those. Sifting through lengthier deliberative contributions have provided me with some good material which i have abstracted in punchier replies elsewhere. (In my own view)

KeymasterQuote:I agree that the Moderator should deal with 'flame', it would end a lot of the acrimonious exchanges- but treating the victim more severely than the attacker? Doesn't seem right to me.It is not a war zone. they are not being treated 'more' severely. The referee analogy applies. If the 'victim' draws it to the mod (refs) attention the mod deals with it. It the 'victim' responds in kind, he or she is, using the referee analogy, booked for retaliation, a different offence to the original. incurring a short suspension, each time it happens. We must exercise self discipline in this forum.

KeymasterIt is just a simple matter of accepting mod decisions as final (like a referees) and not posting or responding to perceived flames. When perceived to be the subject of an attack use the 'report' function and remain silent while it is dealt with. That is not always going to be to the individual's personal satisfaction and they should just accept this.As for content, I personally enjoy some of the longer contributions and exchanges. If it is too philosophical or heavy for me, I can read another thread.if they are not topical enough, or everyday political posts of immediate relevance to the working class, there is nothing stopping me from opening a new thread. The only thing which makes me balk at looking at the forum are the various acrimonious exchanges.Even if perceived to be the victim, responding to a flame, other than using the report button,, should in my own view be sufficient for an immediate short suspension.

KeymasterIt is not too bad. I liked the song at the end.I added the following comment as prolerat to plug our animation.."It is very good at showing the problem but does not point to any solution except in a vague way. This short 3 minute whiteboard animation lets you move beyond this quickly." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fzLMAQ1bWVE

KeymasterMe too. I must have hit a link or something when I was trying save posts as I was losing my network. Inadvertently hitting on your name, as I right-clicked to reload page. I must have been 'admin' as opposed to 'matt as well. but as I said i don't know for sure. All that is speculation. I am still getting the hang of this sotware.

KeymasterI responded and found Robbo in ahead of me.
