ParticipantWell you might say if they've not heard of us, that is our fault, but if they reject us that is their fault. In the case of a single offhand one-line comment made in the context of longer comment in a only semi-related topic I think it is hard to draw broader conclusions. The electoral commission recently said SPGB is not a common widely known acronym, can we draw conclusions from that or both comments in light of the others?I recently re-read George Walfords Socialist understanding 1980 which challenged this notion that awareness alone is the problem
Quote:Television has not been used, but there is no reason to think it would produce a different result. (If television does, as it is sometimes said to do, exert a non-rational influence then it is an influence the SPGB does not want; it relies on rational exposition of its case)jondwhite
ParticipantTo clarify I'm not against disputing public claims that some non-member is a socialist, but I think it unwise to get into the nitty-gritty of whether a non-member would be hypothetically accepted or rejected where there is no application for membership.

ParticipantI don't think they've gone unnoticed but they may have gone unmentioned. Hardy would be a prime candidate for my next talk transcript so I may do that over Christmas.

Clear as mud.Perhaps they could explain why Corbyn who has been involved in the campaign for Labour party democracy since the 1970s, been elected as an MP every election since 1983, won 59.5% of votes for leader, increased Labour membership and 'With more than 250,000 participants voting for him, Corbyn won "the largest mandate ever won by a Party Leader" in the UK' is not 'democratic' enough for the Labour party.
