    Happy Mayday,

Today the World Socialist Movement launches a new website which aims to be a gentle introduction to socialism: what it is, and why it is needed – in multiple languages.

English and Spanish are supported currently but it is hoped this will expand to other languages in future.

    The website address is https://www.worldsocialist.org

If supporters could promote where possible, particularly via the internet/social media to help search engines, that would be great.

The text reads well, but I wonder if it could have benefited from some graphical touches and the addition of material in audio and visual format too. Perhaps a clearer conversion goal would have been good. What are you trying to get visitors to do? What would count as a success?

I found having to keep clicking ‘next’ a bit annoying, but maybe it works to split the text up.

in response to Darren, thanks for your comments. Audio/visual would certainly be a feature to include in future, but as you will appreciate, we are just taking first steps in a site dedicated to new visitors.
The division into several pages is intentional, to avoid presenting the visitor with an enormous screed. Whether it works or not will have to be seen.
The aim is (apart from presentation of the basic case) to get the visitor to contact us – to allow us to invite them to online meetings (for example) or direct them to other party materials.

(BTW the separate pages mean we can monitor how far through the site the visitor goes – this may help us identify improvements in the presentation)

I think this is a duplication of works, there are several websites in different languages

I have been publishing articles, pamphlets, and books in different languages for several years, thru the old yahoo groups, Facebook, bluesky social group, mastodon, and blogger.

Matt who has been one of the best moderator and internet technician that this party has ever had was the only one that provided support

I think I am going to erase all of them and leave this one running

This party has a small clique

I think your sites are performing a different function.

As far as I can tell the purpose of this new was to be a short introduction with a limited amount of text, like a pamphlet.

There’s definitely a place for larger sites too

Ciudadano, please see my earlier post – as DJO wrote, it has a different function. Any enquiries generated by the Spanish pages will almost certainly be directed towards existing in-depth articles that you have written/translated – so for goodness sake, don’t delete anything!.
Please be aware that the website concept received the support of all of the companion parties. Hardly a clique….
    Saludos

Spanish leaflet advertising the new site. Scroll down for the English translation:

    ¿Y vos? ¿Qué opción prefieres?

Sin fronteras, sin estados, sin clases

    * * * * * * * * * * *

For a world of free access
The world’s workers have 2 options:
Option 1 Leave global productive resources in the hands of the capitalists, and scrabble around for a few crumbs that fall from the tables of the rich.
With this option, capitalism’s economic chaos and threats to our very existence (war, environmental degradation) will continue. Because capitalism obeys its own uncontrollable dynamic.
Option 2 Unite to remove control of those resources from the capitalists and convert the production system into a global cooperative, where the sole motive for production is the satisfaction of the reasonable needs and wants of all.
This is true socialism. And it is possible because the objective conditions for its establishment (massive industrial and agricultural resources) have already been met.
    Which option will you choose?
No borders, no states, no classes

Translated by an Argentinian at a guess? Is this for a print leaflet? If the party wants to fund me to go to some of the multiple radical and anarchist bookfairs in Spain I’ll hand it out. But we will have to change “vos” to “tu”

You’re close Darren! Actually I speak Uruguayan Spanish. If you’re serious about going to a couple of bookfairs, I may be able to accompany you.

“If you’re serious about going to a couple of bookfairs, I may be able to accompany you.”

Well it wouldn’t be that costly of a journey from the UK. Not sure what the response would be or if we could find a table to leave leaflets. Could maybe leave them in bars or cafes. Looks like we just missed the Bilbao fair.

There’s one that happens in Madrid in November or December, doesn’t seem like they have a 2025 date yet

Other events might be on here:
