I came across this singer who did an album of William Morris 'Chants for Socialism' by Darren Hayman

Here he is discussing the background to the makiing of the album.

Appropriately for today 1894 May Day

Didn't think much of his song about Mayday. Like many pop/rock singers his diction was appaling . Just couldn't make  out what he was singing about. And to use William Morris' Walthamstow mansion as a backdrop kind of defeats the purpose. Morris was a Mine Owner and a Capitalist at the end of the day.

    Albeit a very enlightened one.

Nice find. I always had a soft spot for Hayman's first band, Hefner, and their *cough* classic, 'The Day That Thatcher Dies'. Before people chime in with the view that the song was in poor taste, it dates from 2000.
