ParticipantLatin America is coming back to the old days of coup d’tat and urban and jungle guerrilla fighters and military
violenceThey have not mentioned that several civilian neighbourhoods were attacked, buildings and family residences were destroyed, and more than 40 human beings died, including elderly peoples
The guerrillas were never defeated; they are dormant, and the FARC and the ELN are planning to reactivate their operations again
I do not think the US is going to be able to control the Venezuelan workers; they are scared of a popular revolt.

Heavy gunfire was reported outside the Miraflores presidential palace in Caracas on Monday, just days after President Nicolas Maduro was abducted during a US Special Forces raid.Videos posted on social media show armed soldiers and armored vehicles outside government buildings.
There are also reports of explosions and the activation of air-defense guns. Citing its sources in Venezuela, AFP said “the situation is under control.”
AFP’s sources added that security forces opened fire in response to unidentified drones flying over Miraflores.
Troops were mobilized after US commandos captured Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, on Saturday and transported them to New York, where both were indicted on drug-trafficking charges. Maduro’s close ally, Vice President Delcy Rodriguez, has been appointed interim president. She condemned the US operation as an “imperialist attack.”
Maduro denied all charges when he was brought before a US judge on Monday, describing himself as “a prisoner of war.” Foreign Minister Yvan Gil said the US had launched “a colonial war” to pillage Venezuela’s natural resources. “Today, it was Venezuela. Tomorrow, it can be any other country that decides to exercise its sovereignty,” he added.
Moscow and Beijing have also condemned the US raid, with Russian UN envoy Vassily Nebenzia calling it “international banditry.”
They have opened a can of worms, and some of those governments backed by the US are shaky, too. The USA has never won a war by itself, they always needs a secretary-

ParticipantArticle on RTE news re the mineral wealth of Venezuela. The Irish state broadcasters some how manage to spot facts and occurrences that the BBC inadvertently overlook. If I was a cynic I could even think the BBC were deliberately ignoring things, heaven forbid!

The new charges against Nicolas Maduro are for trafficking with cocaine before was fentanyl. They have accepted that the Cartel del Sol does not exist, and they made a large campaign about its existence, pretty soon they are going to say that the Tren de Aragua does not exist either. It is a Kangaroo court similar to the one setup against Saddam Hussein in Iraq.

I don’t think China and Russia are going to accept those demands, they have invested large sums of money and resources in Venezuela, and china loans are been paid with petroleum and minerals.
Latin America is part of the world spheres of influence of China and the second trade partner
A few days ago the Vice president of Venezuela was considered an ilegitimate vice president and now the US is considering her the legitimate president of Venezuela, as well in the NY Kangaroo court Nicolas Maduro is considered to be the legitimate president of Venezuela.
Partially the USA wants to lift the petroleum embargo from Venezuela, and the government of Joe Biden was also doing negotiations with Nicolas Maduro to partially lift the oil embargo, it does show that the state is the executive apparatus to handle the interests of the capitalist class, it does not make any differences of who the administrator is
Still most wage slaves do not see that nationalism does not apply to them, it is just a tactic to keep them divided, the USA capitalist class is based on isolationism and expansionism at the same time
Now, some members of the MAGA movement are running away because they are seeing that the slogan of America first is world expansionism, and they were against globalism but the government of USA is globalist too like all capitalist nations

ParticipantPoor people are the ones who always die first, and the leaders stay hiding in their bunkers eating caviar, drinking campaigns, and a bunch of idiots want the USA to drop atomic bombs in other countries without understanding that they can also be attacked with atomic bombs.
The old days of World War II are gone; now, they have missiles that can travel the whole earth in a few minutes. One missile is more than enough to destroy a big boat or kill millions of human beings
The new version is that the USA disabled all the military hardware, missiles, radars, and anti-aircraft guns, but more than 32 Cubans bodyguards were killed, and several American soldiers received injuries, and some Venezuelans generals were removed. Why did Salvador Allende, Hugo Chavez, and Nicolas Maduro hire Cuban bodyguards and military advisers?
Another popular version is that the radars did not work because they were made in China, North Korea, Iran, and Russia, but they are working in Ukraine and Iran. Venezuela is assembling drones designed in Iran

==============================
I don’t think that Russia, China, Iran, and Cuba are going to abandon their bread and butter so easily.China signed a commercial agreement with Venezuela, and they have made large investments in loans and mining, and Russia has made large investments in military weapons.
China does not have to use dollars in Venezuela; they are using Chinese currency, and they have proven that they do not need dollars for international transactions. China has large capitalist investments in Latin America, and they are building routes insfraestructures in different countries.
Colombia is going to become part of BRICS, and they are going to use Chinese currency for their international transactions
In Peru, China built a large megaport, and they can transport all the commodities by train
Iran has a weapons assembly plant in Venezuela
Cuba depends on Venezuela’s oil and gas; the old days of the Cold War are gone, and they can get cheap oil from Russia, like India is doing at present

This Nicaraguan/Chinese project has been suspended, but it can be reactivated due to the new situation in South and Central America.

ParticipantVenezuela: what has really happened so far
Recent events in Venezuela have been presented as a fight for democracy by some, and as an imperialist attack by others. Both explanations miss the main point.
The United States did not act to help Venezuelan workers or to defend freedom. Like any major power, it acted to protect its own economic and strategic interests, using the language of human rights and security as justification.
At the same time, the Venezuelan state never represented the interests of the working majority. Long before recent events, workers faced low wages, inflation, repression, and mass emigration under a government that claimed to rule in their name.
What is happening now is not a real social change but, at best, a change of managers of the same system. As long as Venezuela remains a capitalist society based on wages, markets, and state power, the living conditions of most people will not fundamentally improve.
Talk of national sovereignty, betrayal, or choosing between the US, China, or other powers only hides the reality: this is a struggle between rival states, not a fight for the well-being of ordinary people.
Workers in Venezuela, like workers everywhere, have nothing to gain from sanctions, military pressure, or regime changes. The problem is not one leader or one country, but a global system that puts power and profit before human needsJanuary 10, 2026 at 12:45 am #262417Ciudadano Del Mundo
ParticipantThe merit of Donald Trump and his gang is that they have shown the real nature of capitalism; they are not wearing any more “democratic” and liberation cosmetics.
The Venezuelan government has shown its capitalist nature too; instead of diminishing the repression, they have increased it within the population, proving that one individual was not the problem, and they have “liberated” all the prisoners from jails to please the US government.
In 1960, the Dominicans were celebrating on the street the death of the dictator, singing: Free Christmas, and one month later, they were being repressed and killed by the government forces. They removed the head of the system, but they left the structure intact.
The dictator was removed by the same people who placed him in power and kept him in power for 39 years, and trained his butchers at the School of the Americas in Panama
They have removed a so-called ‘communist’ dictator, but they left the structure intact, and they are going to use the same structure to extract more profits on a larger scale. History has repeated itself several times
It is like Khruschev removing Stalin, but they kept the same Stalinist structure
