I believe there is some truth to the speculation that he was betrayed by internal elements of the military, that Trump was given a way out, and that this was followed by a government of national unity bringing together elements of the old oligarchy or bourgeoisie with the new one. If that is the case, then perhaps nothing more will happen. As for the leftists who speak of the end of the United States, that is something I have been hearing since my youth, and so far, the country continues to do whatever it wants in this region.

    ———————————————

The same situation took place in Chile, where the military collaborated with the USA to overthrow Salvador Allende, and the social democrats who helped Allende to be elected also collaborated with Augusto Pinochet.

They used the same tactic in Iraq, and some of the military high commanders collaborated with them, and they also did it in Libya. The US has never won a war or a conflict without a secretary or an assistant; they always need ‘cipayos” ( lackeys ).

If you watch the videos when the US was doing the bombing and the attacks, there was no resistance from the Venezuelan air force, and they have modern Russian aircraft; it is similar to the atomic bombing of Japan. It was easy for the usa to drop both atomic bombs, It is all a fabricated lie by both sides

Zelaya was overthrown while he was sleeping, and they took him wearing his pyjamas, as they did with Nicolas Maduro, and the location of his whereabouts was provided by the Venezuelan militaries

Cuba, which has a professional spying agency, told Maduro that he could have been betrayed by the military, and he was using Cuban bodyguards like Salvador Allende.

PS The type of cancer that Hugo Chavez had can be produced by radioactive poison. And he received his treatment in Cuba because he did not trust anybody, and he was a military man, and his bodyguards were Cubans from the G2

Mexico, Colombia, and Cuba could be next. They are just warming up. Marco ( Narco ) Rubio spent his whole life opposing the government of Cuba, but he is now supporting something worse than the government of Cuba. He belonged to one of the most reactionary political parties, known as the Tea Party

True, all of what is happening in the world is the normal functioning of capitalism. What is different is that now it is more naked. The old lies of “freedom/democracy” vs “evil commies” etc. have largely been discarded, and all should now be able to see resources and profits as the real reason for conflicts. (Many still remaining such brainwashed passive consumers of govt media that they don’t). But even those who do see through capitalist propaganda still feel hopeless and powerless in their alienation from one another, paralysed, despondent and resigned. The fact that large numbers of young workers assume a nuclear holocaust will wipe them out at some time, and just resignedly carry on with “life” under ‘capitalism eternal’, tells us how powerless they feel, opting for distractions “in the meantime.”

Quite an interesting piece I came across today in substack. Some of the observations seem a bit iffy to me, but I was curious about something that was mentioned in the piece about the Trump regime wanting to access Venezuela´s oil to drive down the price to $50 per barrel to stuff China and Russia.

You can read half the article, but you have to subscribe for free to read the rest…

Trump STRIKES Venezuela, Maduro KIDNAPPED: War on Russia & China Next? Mark Sleboda REACTS
This video is very interesting about elements of Venezuela army was part that ..

Just 4 days ago that channel posted: Trump is DONE: Russia & China just OBLITERATED His Venezuela War & the CIA is FURIOUS. There’s plenty more hyperbole going back as well. I wouldn’t trust it; it seems very biased.

It was just a palace coup. They removed the president and left the same structure, but administered by individuals easier to control. They are making a lot of noise, but it’s just a political theatre. It was not the first intent to remove or kill  Nicolas Maduro; the same gangs also tried to remove Hugo Chavez, and they had to place him back again. Some peoples suffers historical amnesia.

The cancer that Hugo Chavez had can be produced with radioactive poison, and there are rumours that he was poisoned, which is the reason why he received oncologist treatment in Cuba, and his bodyguards were Cubans from the G2. Salvador Allende’s bodyguards were Cubans, too.
    .
They are going to create a triumvirate as they did in the Dominican Republic and Argentina.

They sacrificed 40 human beings as part of the spectacle. They have done the same thing several times in Latin America; they are experts on those manoeuvres.

The USA has always been governed by gangsters, from the bottom to the top and vice versa,  the sicilian mafias are altar boys compared to them.

Nothing new. Juan Bosh on his history book titled De Cristobal Colon a Fidel Castro, explains all that. Howard Zinn on his book A People’s History, of a people expalains that too. Galeano, Juan Isidro Jimenez Grullon, more books about the real history of the USA gangsters have been written outside than inside, and inside, most people are reading comic books and worshipping leaders.

The drugs traficcking is nothing new either, the USA government has supported several drug dealers, and they have used drug dealers to protect their corporate interests,  including Colombian presidents, all of them have legal immunity, it was widely covered by the journalist Gary Webb and a Mexican journalist. In Colombia, they say: If you do not give your commission to the DEA, you are a dead man.  They have accused Nicolas Maduro of weapons trafficking, but who provides military guns and military vehicles to the Mexican cartels and to the right-wing guerrillas?

Donald Trump is a Boy Scouts compared to the other US presidents, including Barack Obama and Jimmy Carter; he was the one who established the Carter Doctrine in the Middle East, and Obama was the one who overthrew Zelaya in Honduras to stop the flow of Venezuelan oil toward the Panama Canal.

This situation is going to bring the Latin American region back to the old days of guerrilla fighters, more deaths, more chaos, more drugs,  and more instability. Wherever the USA place its boots, it creates more chaos and destruction, and now it is more desperate than before because it is a declining empire, and Russia and China will also compete in the region, and they are weapons
dealers, too,  and they have a lot of influence in the region.

People are celebrating on the streets the removal of Maduro, but they do not know the future consequences; it is only a placebo, it was the same situation when the CIA removed Rafael Trujillo, afer JFK told him, leave or we will kill you, he did not leave and they kill him, and they let his assasins to be killed,  and he was planning to request the protection of the Soviet Union and he was an anti commuist. Everything has been written; they can fool the fools.

32 members of the Cuban government were killed in this operation protecting Nicolas Maduro. Probably, the Cuban government knows what really took place in Venezuela

This piece is doing the rounds on Facebook, which I copy and paste here. Ive seen it on multiple posts. It kind of chimes with what David Graeber wrote in his book on Debt

    ———————————
“The real reason the US is invading Venezuela goes back to a deal Henry Kissinger made with Saudi Arabia in 1974.
And I’m going to explain why this is actually about the SURVIVAL of the US dollar itself.
Not drugs. Not terrorism. Not “democracy.”
This is about the petrodollar system that has kept America the dominant economic power for 50 years.
And Venezuela just threatened to end it.
    Here’s what really just happened:
Venezuela has 303 billion barrels of proven oil reserves.
    The largest on Earth.
    More than Saudi Arabia.
20% of the entire world’s oil.
But here’s the part that matters:
Venezuela was actively selling that oil in Chinese yuan. Not dollars.
In 2018, Venezuela announced it would “free itself from the dollar.”
They started accepting yuan, euros, rubles, anything BUT dollars for oil.
They were petitioning to join BRICS.
They were building direct payment channels with China that bypass SWIFT entirely.
And they were sitting on enough oil to fund de-dollarization for decades.
    Why does this matter?
Because the entire American financial system is built on one thing:
    The petrodollar.
In 1974, Henry Kissinger made a deal with Saudi Arabia:
All oil sold globally must be priced in US dollars.
In exchange, America provides military protection.
This single agreement created artificial demand for dollars worldwide.
Every country on Earth needs dollars to buy oil.
This lets America print unlimited money while other countries work for it.
It funds the military. The welfare state. The deficit spending.
The petrodollar is more important to US hegemony than aircraft carriers.
And there’s a pattern of what happens to leaders who challenge it:
2000: Saddam Hussein announces Iraq will sell oil in euros instead of dollars.
2003: Invaded. Regime change. Iraq’s oil immediately switched back to dollars. Saddam lynched.
The WMDs were never found because they never existed.
2009: Gaddafi proposes a gold-backed African currency called the “gold dinar” for oil trade.
Hillary Clinton’s own leaked emails confirm this was the PRIMARY reason for intervention.
Email quote: “This gold was intended to establish a pan-African currency based on the Libyan golden Dinar.”
2011: NATO bombs Libya. Gaddafi sodomized and murdered. Libya now has open slave markets.
“We came, we saw, he died!” Clinton laughed on camera.
The gold dinar died with him.
    And now Maduro.
With FIVE TIMES more oil than Saddam and Gaddafi combined.
    Actively selling in yuan.
Building payment systems outside dollar control.
    Petitioning to join BRICS.
Partnered with China, Russia, and Iran.
The three countries leading global de-dollarization.
    This isn’t coincidence.
Challenge the petrodollar. Get regime changed.
    Every. Single. Time.
Stephen Miller (US homeland security advisor) literally said it out loud two weeks ago:
“American sweat, ingenuity and toil created the oil industry in Venezuela. Its tyrannical expropriation was the largest recorded theft of American wealth and property.”
    He’s not hiding it.
They’re claiming Venezuelan oil BELONGS to America because US companies developed it 100 years ago.
By this logic, every nationalized resource in history was “theft.”
    But here’s the DEEPER problem:
    The petrodollar is already dying.
Russia sells oil in rubles and yuan since Ukraine.
Saudi Arabia is openly discussing yuan settlements.
Iran has been trading in non-dollar currencies for years.
China built CIPS, their own alternative to SWIFT with 4,800 banks in 185 countries.
BRICS is actively building payment systems that bypass the dollar entirely.
The mBridge project lets central banks settle trades instantly in local currencies.
Venezuela joining BRICS with 303 billion barrels of oil would accelerate this exponentially.
That’s what this invasion is really about.
Not stopping drugs. Venezuela accounts for less than 1% of US cocaine.
Not terrorism. There’s zero evidence Maduro runs a “terror organization.”
Not democracy. The US supports Saudi Arabia, which has zero elections.
This is about maintaining a 50-year-old agreement that lets America print money while the world works for it.
    And the consequences are terrifying:
Russia, China, and Iran are already denouncing this as “armed aggression.”
China is Venezuela’s biggest oil customer. They’re losing billions.
BRICS nations are watching a country get invaded for trading outside the dollar.
Every nation considering de-dollarization just got the message:
Challenge the dollar and we will bomb you.
    But here’s the problem…
That message might accelerate de-dollarization, not stop it.
Because now every country in the Global South knows what happens if you threaten dollar hegemony.
And they’re realizing the only protection is to move FASTER.
    The timing is insane too:
January 3rd, 2026. Venezuela invaded. Maduro captured.
January 3rd, 1990. Panama invaded. Noriega captured.
36 years apart. Almost to the day.
Same playbook. Same “drug trafficking” excuse.
Same real reason: control of strategic resources and trade routes.
History doesn’t repeat. But it rhymes.
    What happens next:
Trump’s press conference at Mar-a-Lago sets the narrative.
US oil companies are already lined up. Politico reported they’ve been approached about “returning to Venezuela.”
The opposition will be installed. Oil will flow in dollars again.
Venezuela becomes another Iraq. Another Libya.
    But here’s what nobody’s asking:
What happens when you can no longer bomb your way to dollar dominance?
When China has enough economic leverage to retaliate?
When BRICS controls 40% of global GDP and says “no more dollars”?
When the world realizes the petrodollar is maintained by violence?
    America just showed its hand.
The question is whether the rest of the world folds or calls the bluff.
Because this invasion is an admission that the dollar can no longer compete on its own merits.
When you have to bomb countries to keep them using your currency, the currency is already dying.
    Venezuela isn’t the beginning.
    It’s the desperate end.”

Venezuela has an enormous amount of gold, silver and precious metals, which can save or sink the dollars from its death; it also has diamonds, which are used for rockets and spaceships.

Billions of dollars in gold were stolen by the Bank of England. If the price of gold continues going up, the dollar will sink, and they want to take Venezuela’s gold from the Orinoco basin before China take possesion of all of them and the Yan might become a world currency.

The USA stole all the assets from Gitco, which is the international petroleum company of Venezuela, and during the time of Chavez, their gas stations were selling gasoline at a lower price in the USA, and Chevron and Exxon were getting nervous.

The petroleum reserve in Venezuela is enough to pay the debt of the USA; it is more than 45 trillion dollars.s
The minerals and rare earth that it has can create an industrial boom in the USA in electronics, chips, military hardware, and machinery due to the large deposits of iron and copper.  Haiti has a large reserve of rare earth and petroleum. The Chinese are drilling for petroleum in Cuba.

The Orinoco has a large extension of fertile land and fresh water, and a large army of unemployed agricultural workers.

The whole continent of the east coast of South America has rare earth and lithium, which is more attractive than Iraq.  Colombia and Mexico have petroleum and rare earth elements.

Some experts have confirmed that the whole Caribbean basin has oil and gas.

Venezuela is one of the richest country of the world, and it has more wealth than Ukraine, and the USA has placed an embargo to stop  Venezuela from becoming a superpower in Latin America like Argentina was in prior years. Argentina used to be called a first-world country.

Venezuela was extending its capitalist tentacles to other countries in Latin America, creating cartels, trusts and banks, such as Banco del Sur and Mercosur.

China is planning to build its own canal in Nicaragua, and the Panama Canal will no longer be needed, but they have Peru megaport and Mexico is building an enormous train superstructure to transport chinese commodity.

The USA would not care if the drug cartels infest the whole USA as long as they could grab all those resources; the war on drugs is just a pretext.

All US capitalists are salivating like dogs to take the resources of Venezuela, but to take them, they are going to need a big army on the ground, and the resistance is going to be bigger than the vietcong and ISIS; they are trying to avoid a popular revolt.t

China has large investments in Latin America, and they do not want to lose them. There are predictions that China might become the first trading partner of Latin America, and it will replace the USA. Several countries have joined the BRICS, which is bigger than the G7

The Maduro case will revive a legal debate over immunity for foreign leaders. The USA does not have jurisdiction over the Maduro case, only the international court, and there are not any evidences that he was dealing with drugs.

The USA might say that he is not a legal president, but in Venezuela, he was certified as president, and he has been certified by other governments around the world, and the USA has no jurisdiction over the electoral system of Venezuela.a

Chávez was elected several times by more than 75%, probably with more approval than Trump, Biden and Obama. He was removed by a coup, and they had to place him back, and the USA always said that he was an illegal president

I can’t see the US releasing Maduro, though Russia has insisted it do so. Will this bugger the talks with Putin over Ukraine too?
