KeymasterNo wonder, in the context of capitalism where the relationship between capitalist states is based on the principle of “might is right”, that the Iran regime wants to develop its own nuclear bomb.
Look what happens if you get into a conflict with another state and haven’t got one. And of course it’s the only reason why no other state, not even the US, doesn’t attack North Korea.
As the Romans said, if you want peace, develop a nuclear bomb.

ParticipantFidel Castro said: The yankees want every country to have machetes and mochas in order to win a war.
Hugo Chavez said: Let’s get weapons from Russia and china instead of the US because during a war we are not going to have any bullets.
Venezuela has not been attacked because the army has guerrillas training and they can fight in the Venezuelan jungles and it might become another Vietnam, and another guerrillas fighters can join them
Israel can attack Iran or other middle eastern countries because they have the back up of the USA and they are the only country in the middle east who has atomic bombs and nobody can inspect them.
Without the economic and military aid of the USA, Israel would have been in the same economic and military level of Palestine
As Alan Johnston used to says: State war is terrorism with a bigger budget

KeymasterI am not sure where to post this. Here or on the thread about the black record of the Starmer Labour government.
Anyway, it looks as if Britain is ready to support the most aggressive capitalist state towards its neighbours since Nazi Germany.

KeymasterIsrael, the US’s rogue proxy in the Middle East with its own agenda, initiated the current war by attacking Iran with the declared aim of physically preventing it acquiring the nuclear bomb.
According to Netanyahu, Iran’s possession of the nuclear bomb presents an existential threat to the state of Israel. The suggestion is that, if Iran had the bomb, it would use it annihilate Israel. This is just propaganda as Iran wants the bomb for the same reason as the United States, Britain, France, China, India and Pakistan have it — as a deterrent against being attacked. If Iran did have the bomb it would be very foolish of it to use against Israel as Israel itself is a nuclear state.
The real reason for the war — and why the United States, Britain and the others are behind Israel in practice — is to maintain the current the balance of power in the Middle East. In relations between capitalist states ‘might is right’ and Iran’s possession of nuclear weapons would increase its ‘might’ and so shift the balance in its favour. It’s this that the Western states, who currently dominate the area because it’s the source of much of the oil and gas they need to power their production, wish to prevent, ideally by diplomacy but Israel has forced their hand.
To maintain their own domination of the Middle East is why the Western powers are so concerned that Iran should not have nuclear weapons.

ParticipantWe do not cheer the mass murder of workers in wars, and the same is the case here.
Whether it’s Tel Aviv or Tehran, cheering is obscene.
Even more obscene than that are the workers doing the will of the rival gangs of capitalists, acting under orders as automata and unleashing death on each other upon command.
As Wilhelm Reich said of soldiers, “Where is their will to resist?” The power to resist and to mutiny exists, but lies in abeyance. It has come to the fore now and then in history, but not enough.
The workers are 99% of the world’s population, passively letting capitalism destroy our beautiful world.June 17, 2025 at 10:52 pm #258876ALB
Keymaster“Ex-IAEA chief warns Israeli attacks may encourage countries to seek nukes
Mohamed el-Baradei, who won a Nobel Peace Prize as the head of the UN nuclear watchdog in 2005, says Israeli attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities are illegal.
He warned that the assault on Iran “is a sure way to destroy” the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, saying that it “sends a clear message to many countries that their ‘ultimate security’ is to develop nuclear weapons”.”
I think that’s right. Under capitalism where relations between states are based on “might is right” Iran’s fate at the hands of Israel will lead other medium-sized states to draw the conclusion that they need the “might” of nuclear weapons to deter being attacked.
That Treaty was only scrap of paper anyway.

ParticipantThere are many states in the Middle East, Africa and Asia and probably Latin America that will try to develop, or get from somebody else a nuclear bomb like North Korea with the assistance of the Soviet Union, and then, they continued their own program
Libya dismantled all their atomic weapons programs and then, they were sodomized by the European powers and the USA, and they took all the natural resources
The USA and the western powers are like a bull in a ceramic store, trying to hit everybody in their world hegemonic decline, but they stay away from North Korea, China, India and Pakistan because they have nuclear bombs
Brazil has developed nuclear technology but for civil applications only, but they might change their minds because they are member of the BRICS, as well Saudi Arabia wants to develop a civil nuclear program, and Venezuela has been under threat of a US invasion for several years and they have closed relationship with China and Russia
We do not support wars, but the reality is that if you have a nuclear bomb nobody will invade you or attack you

ParticipantUkraine is attacking a nuclear power nation like Russia, but Russia has not dropped one atomic bomb in Ukraine, and the possession of atomic between the USA and Russia has limited the war to a conventional war, they did not want Ukraine to use long range missiles to attack Russia, and both powers do not want an atomic war, they only thing that the US can do is to impose sanctions on Russia and they have found way to avoid those sanctions.
I do not think that Iran is going to attack US military bases, they do know that they are going to be attacked by a more powerful force, they want to bring the US to the table of negotiations, and the USA does not want to destroy Iran completely, they need the infrastructure in order to extract the oil which is the main objective, to have a continued supply of energetic sources from the whole Middle East, and also china and Russia have interest in Iran
Iran has attacked Israel but Israel has not dropped an atomic bomb in Iran, and the USA has asked Israel to limit their bombardment to a conventional war, because it might become a quamaire in the Middle East the same case is applicable to India and Pakistan none of them have dropped an atomic a bomb against each other, but the possession of atomic bombs among them have created and apparent peace.
The US dropped two atomic bombs in Japan, but they were experimental scientific projects using two different types of bombs, in two cities that were left intact, and McArthur wanted to drop atomic bombs in China, and the US government refused the project because they did not have so many nuclear bombs available and the Soviet Union could have responded, and world opinion was going to be negative against them.
North Korea has nuclear bombs, and the USA has imposed sanctions on N Korea but they have not invaded that country, and its neighbor is China which is also a nuclear power as powerful as Russia and the USA, and China would prefer to place troops in N Korea than having the US as its close neighbor
Atomic bombs are deterrent weapons, capitalists are not going to destroy each other completely.

ParticipantHow Israel’s Iran strikes might supercharge the global nuclear arms race
The stated intention of the attacks was to stop Iran from building a bomb. Some experts worry it may have the opposite effect.PS: A war against Iran might create the conditions that the workers of that nation might get united with their government instead of fighting against them, the rulers can use nationalism in order to motivate the peoples to fight for them, and many peoples in that country are young, it has mountains and forest, and the army is heavily trained in guerrillas wars, it has a large population of around 90 millions peoples
