Keir Starmer to resign seat

Starmer is reported in the Camden New Journal to be preparing to resign as an MP for Holborn and St Pancras.

Presumably, this will allow him to follow the plan he set out after he resigned as PM. At that time he stated that:

“I will now focus on other things and that will be international affairs including defence, security, trade and technology in a fast-changing world.”

For those of a cynical outlook might translate this into:

“I am now going to reap the dividend of the 11 short years in parliament by selling the tiny remnants of my soul to defence corporations, multinational corporations, big tech, bankers and investors. A quick message to all of you who have worked 40 odd years to gain a pitiful pension to last you through the what will be the sort uncomfortable years before you die, it appears you joined the wrong pension scheme. So long suckers”

Of course I am not a cynic and will wish the ex PM well as he continues to defend the interests of the few against the greedy avaricious and grasping many.
