{"id":258634,"date":"2025-06-04T11:00:55","date_gmt":"2025-06-04T10:00:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.worldsocialism.org\/spgb\/?post_type=snippet&#038;p=258634"},"modified":"2025-06-03T15:03:32","modified_gmt":"2025-06-03T14:03:32","slug":"what-er-shambles","status":"publish","type":"snippet","link":"https:\/\/www.worldsocialism.org\/spgb\/snippet\/what-er-shambles\/","title":{"rendered":"What-er shambles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An interim <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/independent-water-commission-review-of-the-water-sector\" target=\"_blank\">Water Commission report<\/a> released on 3 June tells us that \u201cthe current system is not delivering what people expect and need\u201d but \u201cThere is no simple, single change, no matter how radical, that will deliver the fundamental \u2018reset\u2019 of the water sector\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Alongside the blather about a \u2018long-term direction\u2019 and better regulation is a plea for the already low risk to investors to be made lower still, to make low returns more attractive to capital.<\/p>\n<p>And there\u2019s the rub &#8211; the Commission is (of course!) stuck with the capitalist mindset.<\/p>\n<p>There is indeed a single radical change to make it easier to produce all of the goods and services that we all need \u2013 expropriate the capitalists.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"template":"","class_list":["post-258634","snippet","type-snippet","status-publish","hentry"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.worldsocialism.org\/spgb\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/snippet\/258634","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.worldsocialism.org\/spgb\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/snippet"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.worldsocialism.org\/spgb\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/snippet"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.worldsocialism.org\/spgb\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=258634"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
