Certainly many are really feeling the pinch.<\/p>\n<p>Since the start of the year, it has been reported that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>six million people would need to more than double their income to escape poverty<\/li>\n<li>over two million retired people are living in \u2018severe hardship\u2019, with another million just above the poverty line<\/li>\n<li>poverty is driving many teenagers towards predatory gangs and drug-dealing<\/li>\n<li>rough sleeping in London is at its highest level in a decade<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All quite appalling, and all completely unnecessary, given the productive potential of society.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"template":"","class_list":["post-250434","snippet","type-snippet","status-publish","hentry"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.worldsocialism.org\/spgb\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/snippet\/250434","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.worldsocialism.org\/spgb\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/snippet"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.worldsocialism.org\/spgb\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/snippet"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.worldsocialism.org\/spgb\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=250434"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
