{"id":3,"date":"2010-04-08T10:07:52","date_gmt":"2010-04-08T10:07:52","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2023-01-28T17:17:41","modified_gmt":"2023-01-28T17:17:41","slug":"how-spgb-different","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.worldsocialism.org\/spgb\/how-spgb-different\/","title":{"rendered":"How the SPGB is Different"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The SPGB and our companion parties in the WSM say that:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"margin-left:20px\">\n<li>socialism will be a moneyless, stateless worldwide society of common ownership and democratic control of the means of wealth production and distribution<\/li>\n<li>there is no need for a \u201ctransition period\u201d<\/li>\n<li>socialism cannot be established by gradual implementation<\/li>\n<li>reforms of capitalism can never lead to socialism<\/li>\n<li>socialism must be established by a large conscious majority, preferably via a parliamentary mandate,<\/li>\n<li>socialism cannot be established by some minority vanguard or leadership group<\/li>\n<li>socialists should oppose all capitalist wars and that socialism will end war, including the class war<\/li>\n<li>the former USSR, China, Cuba and other so-called \u201csocialist countries\u201d were never socialist, but instead, state capitalist<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Other groups which may use the terms &#8216;socialist&#8217; or &#8216;communist&#8217;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There are some groups, for example left communists and some anarchists, who agree with some of the above but not all. In Britain what&#8217;s called the Left is generally made up of groups which don&#8217;t have socialism as we describe it as an immediate (or even distant) goal, and instead aim at a &#8216;dictatorship of the proletariat&#8217; with themselves in charge. These are the groups which follow Lenin and\/or Trotsky.
