Cde Vin Maratty is unable to follow rules and protocol because of an unconstitutional ban by the Internet Committee. So I will post it for him.

    19th April 2016

    To all NERB Members

I am writing to you as Secretary and according to party protocol to inform you that a branch meeting will be held between 22nd to 24th April as agreed at our meeting on July 15th  2015

I am unable to issue this on the forum or take part in the meeting contrary to party protocol and in breach of Rule 5.

    Vin maratty Branch Secretary

I for one would prefer a face to face meeting and I am aware that cde davidson has made enquiries re organising a venue for such a meeting. As our secretary is unable to take part in any internet based meeting I feel holiding such a meeting would be futile.

The meeting has been democratically agreed and organised. Do we just pick and choose when and when not to follow protocol. When was the decision made to move branch meetings from here to a face to face meeting?Doesn't the democratic wishes of the last branch meeting mean nothing?

I don't mean to sound like I'm being pedantic, but the following isn't quite what could be called a democratic decision by the branch. And I could be wrong, but I don't think there's been a branch meeting every month since last July. Wed, 22/07/2015 – 7:55pm#224Vin can I assume NERB meeting last weekend of every month?http://www.worldsocialism.org/spgb/forum/regional-branches/north-east/july-online-branch-meeting?page=22 At the last NERB meeting in February it was suggested that a face to face meeting be organised. And there were no objections. Again it wasn't a democratic decision, but seeing as it was during the last branch meeting it could be argued that it trumps July.At the end of the day it is up to the branch to decide.  Mon, 29/02/2016 – 11:03pm#235Tim Kilgallon Hi Steve, I just have. Can I now call the meeting to a close, although I'm tempted to propose a vote of thank to the IC fo their help in reviving the revoutionary spirit in the North East!!!I'm off now, but can we begin to look at a date for a face to face soon? If Harley finds it difficutl to make it out of Hartlepool I am happy to go down there, I can transport another 4 comrades if necessary.Godnight comrades YFS TimMon, 29/02/2016 – 11:09pm#239steve colborn Before everyone slopes off, keep an eye on this site for updates on a face to face meeting. Wed, 02/03/2016 – 12:50am#245Vin I have contacted cde wears re face to face meetinghttp://www.worldsocialism.org/spgb/forum/regional-branches/north-east/february-branch-meeting?page=23

with all due respect, the plan for a meeting on the internet was made prior to the Branch Secretary being banned from the forum indefinitely, that was a bit of a game changer! Can Vin or Linda suggest a way that we could hold a branch meeting, on the forum, with input from the Branch Secretary, if that can't be done, then how can the democratic processes of the branch be undertaken without out Brach secretary? However I cannot see why we are getting into a procedural row about having a face to face meeting. Cde Davidson has found a venue, I am happy to provide what transport I can, we have lots to discuss, what is wrong with having a branch meeting along those lines?YFSTim

The IC has stamped on the democratic processess of the branch over and over again and I for one do not wish to give way. This issue should be dealt with here in defiance of the dictators the undemocratic actions of a few 'indispensibles' and if the IC dumps posts that I post for Vin they will look rediculous, and undemocratic: which is exactly what they are.I dont want this discussion in a shed in Murton, I want it here for all to see because I believe in open democracy.Call me idealist but such a meeting may well act as a beacon for future democracy all the best Vin and Linda

Vin says you are not being pedantic at all, he had forgotten. But still supports an online meeting this weekend when a face to face meeting amongst other thingscan be discussed.

Can I suggest a way forward. I suggest we post on this thread a message stating that Vin and Linda will both use Linda's online account to attend the online branch meeting here during this weekend and that if any of the Moderators, EC members or any other party members have any objections to this they should post their objections by 5pm on Friday 22nd April. Can I also give notice of a motion I wish to put to the branch which is "The Branch should hold a physical, face to face meeting at the earliest convenience for the Branch."Can I also say Linda, that when a comrade has gone to the trouble of checking out a suitable venue for Branch meetings, especially considering the physical difficulties Steve has, it is extremely ungenerous to refer to it as a "Shed in Murton"

I didn't mean it the way it came out,  Sure its not a hut :) Sorry Steve. I will buy you a single malt, promise vin

I wrote a lot of stuff out but it disappeared. It was vin about the hut.  In short 'ungenerous' we know a lot about. 'Physical restrictions' we know a lot about. Could do without the moral lecture.

On the subject of members going to trouble with limited physical and mental abilities and financial abilities no branch member has commented on the videos produced by Vin for the branch.   Vin

Thought people might like to check out the "shed in Murton", for themselves.http://parishes.durham.gov.uk/murton/Pages/TheGlebeCentre.aspxIf branch members are ok with the "shed in Murton" as a suitable place for the next face to face meeting, get some dates of when you are available posted here or PM me and I'll get it booked. Any questions feel free to ask.Cheers,Stephen
