YMS,let's try the answer is the same old way: by social theory and practice. I'm not sure why you've joined the thread, YMS. Surely you know my answers, by now? After all, I know your questions intimately, like a tired old pair of slippers. There's no way forward if you keep asking the same questions, only to receive the same answers. If you're not interested in epistemology, what's the point? If you don't want answers in terms of subject/object/ knowledge relationships, why bother? If you already know that you're not a democrat in science, and have a 'special affinity with matter', why are you interested in my thoughts?November 3, 2014 at 3:00 pm #105321
Well, it just occurred to me that "Social theory and practice" is sufficient epistemologically to let people decide how to vote, then the vote is unecessary empistemologically. All the vote would reveal is what people think. So, by all means, we can vote on the peturbation of Venus to three decimal places, but we don't need to. Also, bang goes Consensus Gentium: Social Theory and Practice determines what we know. What we think and do. That's fine by me.November 3, 2014 at 3:32 pm #105322
I just wonder why you bother to ask me anything, YMS!You're not really asking for help to understand epistemology, are you? You've got your own answers, and you're satisfied with them. That's OK by me.November 3, 2014 at 3:35 pm #105323
I wasn't really askign anything. I was just demonstyrating to you, again, where you're going wrong. Voting doesn't produce truth, being and doing does. Hopefully you'll stop misleading workers now.November 3, 2014 at 3:49 pm #105324Young Master Smeet wrote:I wasn't really askign anything. Righto, I've got that, YMS!'Being and doing', eh? Makes you wonder why 'being a child and doing a number two on the potty', hasn't caught on yet in the universities, as an explanation for producing 'truth', rather than 'shit'.Well, we heard it first here, on the SPGB site! Thanks, YMS!November 3, 2014 at 4:10 pm #105325
Actually, I believe George Bataille's philosophy does begin with that very premise (with a nod, IIRC, to Freud)http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Georges_Bataille#Base_materialismhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Accursed_ShareNovember 3, 2014 at 5:07 pm #105326YMSs link wrote:Bataille drew from diverse influences and used various modes of discourse to create his work.
