KeymasterIt might sound like heresy and compromising or hostility clause, but what about actually cooperating with CWO locally in the sense of having joint forums to discuss and debate both points of disagreement but equally important, where we can agree. It may lead to increased audience and the interest of others involved in the left-wing milieu. It may also help to divide the chore of publicity and costs.

What is the harm in coming together in a fraternal manner and putting our minds together.May 12, 2018 at 11:28 am #130930Bijou Drains

What is the harm in coming together in a fraternal manner and putting our minds together. The CWO are holding their May Day meeting in Newcastle tonight at Quilliam Brothers Tea Room in Newcastle at 6.00pm, invites, etc. were passed on by the visitor from the CWO.Unfortunately I am unable to attend, however I agree it would be a good idea to look at joint forums/debates, etc. and I will endevour to contact the local CWO and if possible take this forward, without compromising my intellectually hostile response to some of their positions.

KeymasterComradely disagreements can take place without animousity, as shown by the number of times members have had differences of opinion on this forum Narrowing down the points where we differ with the CWO is worthwhile in itself but these days i am not so sure adversarial debates is the always the ideal discussion method As i always say, we all come to socialism via different journeys and on the way we pick up our individual political baggage, and we are reluctant to discard it unless we are absolutely sure it is not required. Some gentle persuasion can help but it depends on the attitude and tone the advice is given in.But as you well know, the real meaningful exchanges are over a few pints after the meetings…in vino veritas
