This year’s Branch hike will be on Saturday 30 June, to the Piethorne Valley area between Oldham and Rochdale.

This includes a couple of reservoirs and some scenic woodland, with a few gentle climbs, and is about five miles long.
Meet at Newhey tram stop (on the line to Rochdale) at 12.00; we’ll then have to walk to the first reservoir; you’d probably need to allow at least half an hour for the journey to Newhey from central Manchester. Alternatively, meet at the car park on Ogden Lane next to Ogden reservoir at around 12.30; but we can’t guarantee that there’ll be space in the car park. The walk will finish back at the tram stop, via the car park.
Bring a packed lunch and a flask of water; wear robust shoes and bring a waterproof top, just in case.
