March 4 NHS demonstration

The Party will have a stall at this event on Saturday 4 March. It will be set up by 12 noon in Tavistock Square, WC1H (which is not far from Euston station) where the demonstrators will assemble before marching to Parliament Square. Members and sympathisers will be able to collect leaflets and Socialist Standards from the stall.

Four turned out to run a stall and distribute leaflets to the mainly health service trade unionist protestors. About £15 worth of pamphlets sold and hundreds of general introductory leaflets given out. Interesting to note from its leaflet that SPEW is now calling itself "Socialist Party formerly Militant" which should help dissipate the confusion but it didn't stop some of their out-of-London members thinking our stall was theirs.

well done for those who turned out. Shame we never had special leaflet themed for the event addressing the protesters concerns to distribute. I am sure we could have produced a leaflet that with some important caveats could have associated the NHS with "to each according to needs".
