In the proposed boundary changes announced last night and which all the papers are talking about today, Head Office would be in a new constituency called Clapham North & Stockwell (see page 24), which is a truncated version of the existing Vauxhall constituency which we have contested many times. The previous proposals would have put Head Office one street into a Battersea constituency.

So does the Election Committee think the change is to our advantage? Will it be easier to canvas and fly-poster and leaflet? What is the estimated electoral roll population? Will it be easier for the voters to attend our meetings at HO during election campaigns?

Yes, probably. The electorate will be less, 74,000 and the constituency more compact. Head Office will be easily accessable from most parts of it (which wouldn't be the case if we end up in a Battersea constituency). A word of caution, though, the proposal might not go through as 2 of the wards are more in Brixton than Clapham and there may be objections to this from people in Brixton. A final decision won't be reached till 2018.

The latest, revised proposals put Head Office on the boundary (literally) of two proposed new constituencies: one called "Brixton & Vauxhall", the other "Battersea & Clapham". Clapham High Street is the border and Head Office will be on the side in Battersea & Clapham:https://www.bce2018.org.uk/node/6485?postcode=SW47UNAnticipating something like this was why we decided to contest Battersea rather than Vauxhall in the general election.

Does being neighbours to both constituencies offer us better opportunities to campaign in both?
