Communist University 2015 (Weekly Worker) takes place in London

    Quote:
    Which way for the left?
A week of challenging debate and rigorous clarification for the thinking left

The timetable is now finished – see below. Please note that Bob Brenner and Suzi Weissman are unfortunately not able to attend because of illness.

    Highlights include:

    – Ian Birchall (Revolutionary History) on “The lessons of the third Comintern congress”
    – a debate between Salman Shaheen (Left Unity principal speaker) and Jack Conrad (CPGB) on ‘The right to bear arms”
    – James Heartfield, author of An Unpatriotic History of the Second World War
    – Hillel Ticktin (editor of Critique) will talk in three sessions on “Crisis, Transition and Socialism”
    – Chris Knight (Radical Anthropology Group) on “Singing and the origins of language”
    – Yassamine Mather (CPGB) on ‘Artificial intelligence and the great jobs massacre”
    – Israeli socialist Moshé Machover
    – Kevin Bean on the national question in the British Isles
    – Mike Macnair (CPGB) on “Aspirational politics? The Maximum Progamme in Marxist theory and practice”
    – Michael Roberts (Marxist economist) on “The future of the Eurozone single currency”
    – Paul Demarty (CPGB) on “The future of art and the art of future”
    – Marc Mulholland (Oxford University): ‘Gifted and talented: Socialists and the problem of unequal abilities – a history'

Communist University, the open, forthright, and topically diverse school of left-wing exchange and discussion is being hosted this year again at the wonderful orangery of Surrey House at Goldsmiths University.

Unlike other lefty political schools CU is a place where differing views contend and clash openly. There are no deathly dull hagiographic sessions put on to show fidelity to some spurious sect 'tradition', and members of the CPGB, as well as comrades of all other organisations and none, can air their views and argue and debate freely with one another. Like in previous years, there will be attendants from all over the world. Join them!

Considering their eclectic selection of speakers, perhaps we could offer someone and a topic for 2016. One of their speakers, James Heartfield, is already an SPGB member but i think he will be speaking as a individual upon his specialised subject, WW2.

James Heartfield is not a Socialist Party member. You seem to be confusing him with a member with a similar name.

My apologies to our own member for mistaking him for his name-sake.

Our member is not Heartfield's namesake; in fact his name is not even that similar.  You really need to verify your sources before making unwarranted assumptions.  It's becoming rather habitual.

Heartfield was a leading member of the old Revolutionary Communist Party. He appears to be one of the few of that now defunct organisation who still see themselves as part of a longstanding left political tradition.

And your  petty sniping has also become very annoying, Gnome.
