2017 London Anarchist Bookfair
Saturday 28th October from 10am to 7pm.
Venue: Park View School,
West Green Road, N15 3QR
For those who intend to do our customary lit-stall at the entrance
From last year:Party stall outside the venue this coming Saturday (28th), from 12pm – any help appreciated.

Perhaps if we had a paid worker at HO we could have said to that person, “could we have 50 copies of Dick Donnelly putting Albert Meltzer ‘s bait up please, and could you pop them in the post to Cde X who is going to this event?”

If the question had been asked this time last week the request could have been dealt with by comrades who were at HO on Wednesday and Thursday. Better still, the CDs (if there are any left) could have been collected in person by those at ADM over the last weekend and known to be attending the Bookfair. Hmmmm I don’t think there will be this type of problem in the Northern Powerhouse when we get our regional office. It’s a good job the industrial revolution didn’t start down south, they’d still be looking at a steam engine and wondering what would happen if they put it on rails. Fortunately my great great grandfather was around at Killingworth Pit to give Geordie Stephenson a few tips and get the ball rolling
Very successful party stall outside the Anarchist Bookfair today. Sold about 10 of the latest Martov pamphlets (all we had) around £50 worth of literature in total plus quite a few back copies of the Standard given away and also other free stuff. Eight comrades present.
From a couple of threads on Libcom, there seems to have been quite a kerfuffle at the bookfair, where some Trans-Exclusionary Radical Feminists were handing out anti-transsexual leaflets. That word along with CIS ( a term for people whose gender identity matches the sex that they were assigned at birth) are new to me. Transsexuals are not, however, since i meet them every day in all manner of daily life. Nothing unusual where i live, a provincial rural market town. Some anarchist women are now being accused of transphobia.
Following a confrontation at this year’s London Anarchist Bookfair sparked by two people handing out anti-trans leaflets, and a subsequent online firestorm, the Bookfair organisers have released two statements on what happened, announcing they will not be holding one in 2018.The decision ends a 34-year run for the event, which was the largest of its kind.
