I see that Hardy’s two part series on “Marx’s conception of socialism” written back in 1983 has just been added to the Marxist Internet Archive:

It strikes me that a lot of the things we have been talking about on this forum were touched on by Hardy in these articles.  Things such as the productive potential of modern society, labour vouchers and rationing, the question of the state disappearing abruptly or gradually being phased out, the division of labour, the structural waste of capitalism and so on.

Hardy’s articles are a great source of information – particularly on the economics of capitalism. They are also very readable and accessible.  I wonder if folk here have any thoughts on some of the observations he makes on the nature and preconditions of a socialist society
